Our Passion

For us, this is more than just a shop. It is a way to give back to a game that has been part of our lives for decades. We have been playing Magic since the mid-90s, ripping Alliances and Mirage packs, building decks at kitchen tables, and trading cards out of binders like they were treasure chests.

Back then, for a lot of us, sleeves were an afterthought, and keeping track of card values happened at a snail’s pace through InQuest Magazine. We cared less about the value of our rubber-band-wrapped decks and more about the good times they brought. Sure, crazy-expensive cards existed, but the game still felt much more attainable.

Over the years, though, new sets seemed to come faster, each one trying to outdo the last. Text boxes got bigger, power creep became harder to ignore, and inevitably, the cost of keeping up continued to rise.

The State of the Game

With every new set, new staples are printed and the meta grows. Old must-haves receive new rare art treatments, while older cards become harder to find and more expensive to own. For many players, especially newcomers, this can make the hobby feel less accessible.

Commander has only made that more noticeable. As one of Magic’s most popular formats, Commander asks players to build 100-card decks full of synergy, staples, interaction, mana fixing, and personal flair. But when so many popular cards cost $10, $20, $30, $40, or more, building the deck you actually want can quickly become unrealistic for the average player.

The bracket system helps separate decks by power level, but truth be told, higher-power decks often come with higher price tags. Bracket 4 and 5 decks can easily cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, putting that level of play completely out of reach for many people.

And honestly, it should not have to be that way.

Magic should be about the joy of playing. It should be about building the deck you have been dreaming about, testing new strategies, sitting down with friends, and enjoying the game without feeling like you need to spend a fortune just to keep up. Every bracket and format should feel accessible without requiring players to gamble on expensive packs or chase cards far outside their budget.

Our goal is simple: to help make Magic more affordable for all types of players.

The Mox Forge will offer an ever-expanding inventory of popular Magic staples, Commander favorites, gorgeous art prints, and hard-to-find classics designed for casual play and deck testing. Whether you are building your first Commander deck, dabbling in Vintage nostalgia, testing cards before buying originals, or just trying to enjoy more variety at the kitchen table, we want to help you take control of your hobby.

We also know that every player has different needs, which is why instead of just single affordable MTG proxy cards, we will be accepting custom requests. If there is a specific card, finish, or style you are looking for, we can help bring that idea to life. Custom requests typically take about one to two weeks to print, depending on the size of the order and whether the requested cards are available. We do not have them all, but we have a lot!
